The banjolene is a four-stringed musical instrument with a small banjo-type body and a fretted mandolin neck. Banjolene is the generic nickname given to the instrument.


The harp is a stringed musical instrument that has a number of individual strings running at an angle to its soundboard, the strings are plucked with the fingers.  Harps have been known since antiquity in Asia, Africa and Europe, dating back at least as early as 3500 BCE


Balalaika is a Russian stringed instrument with a characteristic triangular wooden, hollow body and three strings.  The higher-pitched balalaikas are used to play melodies and chords.  Balalaikas are often used for Russian folk music and dancing.
